Overview
NextGen are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher for one of our partnership schools based in Harrogate and that is easily accessible from North Leeds, Skipton, York and Keighley.

We are looking for a Qualified Teacher with QTs who is seeking to make a difference teaching students with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs. Majority of the students at this school live with Anxiety and the school are looking for a Primary Teacher who is passionate about working with SEMH Learners or a SEMH Specialist Teacher who is seeking a new challenge.

This role is a tempoary to permanet contract through NextGen Teachers and would be starting in January/February 2025.

Teachers appling for this position must have access to a car in order to get to the school and must be comfortable with therapy dogs and farm animals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Collaborate with parents and other professionals to create tailored educational plans that promote learning and development.
  • Implement strategies to enhance communication skills among children, adapting techniques to suit individual needs.
  • Monitor and document the progress of each child, providing feedback to parents and team members regularly.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning through play.

Experience

  • Proven experience in special education or related fields is essential.
  • Experience working with children diagnosed with autism or other developmental disorders is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for effectively interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A passion for educating and supporting children in their growth and development is crucial for success in this role.
  • Familiarity with Teach Teach training and willingness to complete course
