Elevation Procurement & Supply Chain are working with a leading Environmental business based in Harrogate in the search for an experienced Category Manager to join the team as a result of continued growth. My client is looking for an experienced Category Manager, who will be responsible for implementing a strategic purchasing plan for the indirect requirements of the business as well as some involvement in materials. The successful incumbent will be required to work closely with the operations team to source, negotiate and procure materials and services to meet the companies operational requirements. Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Delivering the end-to-end procurement cycle for the category from sourcing to contract drafting
- Controlling all spend within the category, securing best value and maximising economies of scale from supplier expenditure
- Building strong relationships with suppliers to effectively manage contracts and performance, to ensure the needs of the business are met and working with key internal stakeholders across the business to give the procurement agenda credibility and visibility
- Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns when there is a risk which could prevent the organisation meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns
- Support operational needs as required
- Manage a complex and varied workload to ensure focus is maintained on key actions
Elevation Procurement & Supply Chain would be keen to speak with candidates who have the following skills and experiences:
- Possess a proven track record of managing procurement categories for a multi-site business and implementing and embedding strategy, policies and processes
- Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to effectively manage supplier relations and internal relationships
- Minimum of 5 years’ purchasing experience – ideally with a focus on indirect procurement
- Excellent understanding of operational requirements and best practice
