Bakery Driver/Packer
Salary up to £15.22 per hour including unsociable hours rate £3.00 per hour
Night shift midnight 8 am Tuesday to Saturday
Harrogate must live within a commutable distance to HG3
Company Van provided must have own transport to/from bakery clean driving licence advantageous
The Company
Our client is a wholesale and retail bakery operation and is based 7km outside Harrogate at Springfield Farm on the A59 near Menwith Hill. They bake a range of long fermented sourdough loaves, rye, ciabatta and more traditional yeasted white and granary style loaves/rolls. They also bake pastry and vienoisserie from scratch.
The Role
A new opportunity has arisen for an experience driver to join them in a full-time role.
Your normal shift pattern runs from Midnight to around 8am and you would work Tuesday to Saturday with Sun/Mon off.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Packing products for delivery
- Driving and delivering to their partners
- Other duties as required by the bakery manager
Early Start Early Finish
Baking is a process that happens overnight so the company can get bread and pastries to their partners and customers as fresh as they can be. With this brings early starts for you as a driver/packer at Midnight. You need to be the type of person that can be relied upon to get into work - sleeping through your alarm is not an option.
Packing
They have a packing team that arrive before you but you should expect to spend the first 2-3 hours helping to finish picking items and then loading your van ready to depart.
Driving
The company have a range of vans all under 3 years old that are a pleasure to drive and most of the deliveries are complete before traffic starts getting busy.
Our client have delivery routes that head out to Leeds, York and Wakefield.
Transport
The location of the bakery and the times of the shifts mean that you need to have your own transport to get you to and from the bakery. Public transport is not an option.
Pay
The basic rate for this role is £12.22/hr.
They also pay an additional £3.00/hr as an 'Unsocial Hours' top up rate between 11pm and 6am so this will apply for the majority of your shift.
