An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a dynamic and inspirational practitioner to lead our Geography Department. Â Geography is a hugely successful and popular subject at Hatch End High School at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Â Geography sits within the Humanities Faculty and the successful candidate would be well supported by the Head of Faculty. Field trips are well established and the teaching within the department is strong. Â Teaching and learning in Humanities is supported by a lead practitioner and the culture of development is exciting.

Person Specification:
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAININGÂ
•   University graduateÂ
•   Postgraduate teaching qualification/QTSÂ
•   Evidence of continuing professional developmentÂ
TEACHING and PASTORAL EXPERIENCEÂ
•   At least 1 year’s successful teaching experienceÂ
•   Experience or confidence in mentoring / supporting trainee teachers.Â
•   Teaching experience in at least two Key Stages.Â
•   Evidence of consistently good and outstanding teaching and learning.Â
•   Evidence of cascading outstanding teaching and learning practices in school or a range of schools.Â
•   Evidence of excellent classroom management skills.Â
•   Outstanding knowledge of Assessment Practice in the context of the National Agenda and where appropriate best worldwide practice.Â
•   Excellent subject knowledge.Â
•   Excellent knowledge of current curriculum development in your subject area.Â
•   The ability to use ICT effectively to engage students.Â
•   An understanding of how to use assessment to inform planning for good teaching and learning.Â
•   A good understanding of the principles of Assessment for Learning.Â
•   The ability to differentiate to provide appropriate challenges for all learners.Â
•   Evidence of using data to inform planning and put in place successful intervention strategies to raise achievement.Â
•   Evidence of pastoral experience, including taking responsibility for a form group.Â
•   An interest in the wider curriculum.
