Job Title: Senior Engineer (Design) - Civil & Structural Engineering

Location: Watford

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer (Design) to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on technical role requiring expertise in civil and structural engineering, particularly within the rail industry. The ideal candidate will be working towards Chartership and will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects including station upgrades, platforms, retaining structures, foundations, and footbridges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of complex rail projects from tender stage through to detailed design.
  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical expertise on civil and structural designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Engage and manage key client stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and project progress.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring that work is completed to the highest quality.
  • Ensure designs are aligned with Network Rail and London Underground standards, where applicable.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in the rail industry is essential.
  • Exposure to Network Rail and London Underground projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading projects from conception through to detailed design, with a strong understanding of rail infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Working towards Chartership (CEng) with a relevant engineering body (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical designs clearly.
  • A well-rounded engineer with the ability to balance technical, commercial, and client-facing aspects of the role.
