Registered Manager Harrow £34-36000k + performance bonuses

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, between 8.00am to 17.00pm (45 hours), dependent on rota requirements and any other hours which may be required. Will be required to be on call.

My client is currently looking for a registered manager to work at their small residential care home that houses Adults with physcial disabiilites in Harrow. The role of the manager is required to provide effective leadership, governance and management and it is their responsibility to secure, sustain and promote the reputation of the home.

Main responsibilities & Duties

  • To provide leadership to the administration, care and support staff and people management functions
  • To carry out, and provide leadership in marketing the service and selling its services at the agreed prices- with reference to specific identified care needs
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals they support.
  • Manage risks (e.g., mobility / behaviour / hygiene) to service users so they are supported.
  • Ensure care staff provide assistance to the service users in a timely manner.
  • Manage the medication process so service user’s medicines are received, administered, recorded, and returned correctly.
  • Promote social activities at the residential care home / support, facilitate, and record access to the local community. Chair service users and relatives’ meetings, take note of anything arising, and in discussion with your service provider make changes to the service provision at the service.
  • To carry out audits where required and manage and complete any quality assurances required by the company, including Managers Monthly checklist.
  • Assist in the Recruitment of care staff (interviewing) and be responsible for mentoring
  • Lead, motivate and direct staff
  • Conduct supervision and annual staff appraisal for all staff
  • Participate in the evaluation of the service against agreed organisational goals, as well as business and quality objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain a rota that meets the needs of the service and clients, with appropriate regard to skill mix.
  • Chair staff meetings, take note of anything arising, and in discussion with your service provider make changes to the service provision at the service.
  • Assess service users’ needs and respond to any change in needs so that they receive personalised care that is responsive to these needs.
  • Update care plans to reflect the care and support given.
  • To ensure complaints and suggestions are positively actioned and dealt with correctly.
  • To identify individual training needs in line with the home’s objectives and the employee’s performance, arranging training and evaluating their effectiveness, and ensuring that staff have completed the required training each year.
  • To establish and maintain good relationships with relatives and friends of the Service Users, purchases, referring agencies, the local community and any other parties.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • RQF / NVQ 5 or equivalent Diploma Level 5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care - completed or enrolled.
  • Experience of working in a care home.
  • A proven track record in home management as a manager or deputy manager.
  • A sound knowledge of the CQC and applicable legislation / standards
  • Experience of working with service users who have additional support needs.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be dynamic & enthusiastic
  • Strong leadership skills and works well as part of a team.
  • Have good communication skills and be capable of operating software platforms used to manage staff / service users / managing medication.
  • Budgetary skills / Rota management planning / Working in a Supervisory capacity.
