The Head of Finance will play a critical role in guiding the financial direction of the company. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this position will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, with the ability to provide insights that drive the company’s financial performance and growth.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS & DUTIES

  • Lead the finance department, overseeing financial operations, accounting processes, and the finance team.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
  • Manage the preparation of all financial reporting, including monthly financial statements, budget variance analysis, and year-end financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
  • Work closely with senior management to develop and control the company’s annual budget.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the MD & CEO and members of the executive management team.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting, develop a reliable cash flow projection process, and reporting mechanism.
  • Establish and develop relations with senior management, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Analyze and manage risk, including credit, market, liquidity, and operational risks.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis efforts, offering insights and financial advice that will allow the company to make informed business decisions.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices.
  • Ensuring that all the financial standards are met; including preparation and submission of VAT, HMRC reports and the Year End accounts
  • Ensuring all Bank’s standards / covenants are met
  • Undertake such other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; a Master’s degree or professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly preferred.
  • Very good understanding of accounting principles
  • Proven experience of managing a Finance Team
  • Proven experience of financial reporting
  • Excellent Excel and MS office skills.
  • Excellent communication - both verbal and written - skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and pro-active in seeking out answers
  • At least 5 years of experience within Finance team
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels
