Corporate & CRE UnderwriterLocation: North London

We are an international bank with a strong presence in North London, seeking an experienced Corporate & CRE Underwriter to join our dynamic Credit team. This role is pivotal in processing and underwriting Corporate, Commercial Real Estate (CRE), and personal loan proposals while maintaining our high standards of risk management and regulatory compliance.

Your Role

As a Corporate & CRE Underwriter, you will:

  • Assess and underwrite credit proposals across Corporate, CRE, and personal loans, ensuring timely and successful execution.
  • Work closely with the business team to manage lending proposals and present them to the Sanctioning Committee.
  • Oversee the annual review of our credit portfolio, ensuring compliance with borrowing requirements and covenants.
  • Evaluate credit risks and recommend strategies to minimize exposure, undertaking site visits where necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Originations team to finalize lending decisions.
  • Monitor the existing loan portfolio, identifying potential risks and early arrears, and taking corrective action where needed.
  • Liaise with solicitors and valuation firms to provide seamless solutions for credit proposals.
  • Present credit-related matters to senior committees for product introductions and renewals.
What We're Looking For
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in underwriting or assessing credit proposals.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK lending environment, credit principles, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and exceptional attention to detail.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate decisions and summarize complex arguments.
