We are seeking a dedicated Lecturer in English, specialising in GCSE and Functional Skills, to join our central team at the college. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality education and supporting the integration of English into students’ Study Programmes. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the learning process, including preparation, planning, assessment, and evaluation of students.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Teach English, both GCSE and Functional Skills, to students from various curriculum areas.
  • Prepare and plan engaging and effective lessons that cater to a diverse student body.
  • Assess and evaluate students’ progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Participate in the continuous review and assessment of teaching practices alongside colleagues.
  • Engage in critical debate on pedagogic issues to enhance teaching methodologies.
  • Implement inclusive learning practices to meet individual learner needs and promote equal opportunities.
  • Adhere to and implement college policies effectively.
  • Participate constructively in college activities and adapt to the evolving needs of the Further Education sector.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in teaching English, particularly at GCSE and Functional Skills levels.
  • Strong understanding of the educational needs of a diverse student population.
  • Ability to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons.
