ASD Teaching Assistant | Harrow, HA3 | 90 - 105 per day | Long-Term to Permanent Role | February Start
Long Term Futures are seeking a patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive three-form entry primary school in Harrow, HA3. Starting after the half-term break, this role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is currently working at Reception level.

Key responsibilities:
- Work 1:1 with a pupil with ASD, helping them access the curriculum and make progress in line with their individual needs.
- Use visual timetables, sensory strategies, and reward systems to engage the child effectively.
- Support the pupil's social, emotional, and academic development, encouraging independence.
- Adapt classroom activities to suit the pupil's working level and interests.
- Assist with transitions, ensuring the pupil feels secure and supported throughout the day.
- Build a strong and positive relationship with the child, fostering a sense of trust and safety.
- Liaise with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and adapt strategies as needed.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children with ASD and/or additional needs.
- Be confident supporting a child working below age-related expectations.
- Demonstrate patience, resilience, and creativity in their approach.
- Have knowledge of or experience using visual aids, sensory tools, and reward systems.
- Be passionate about inclusive education and helping pupils reach their potential.
