Long Term Futures are seeking a patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive three-form entry primary school in Harrow, HA3. Starting after the half-term break, this role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is currently working at Reception level.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with a pupil with ASD, helping them access the curriculum and make progress in line with their individual needs.

  • Adapt classroom activities to suit the pupil's working level and interests.
  • Assist with transitions, ensuring the pupil feels secure and supported throughout the day.
  • Build a strong and positive relationship with the child, fostering a sense of trust and safety.
  • Liaise with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and adapt strategies as needed.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with ASD and/or additional needs.
  • Be confident supporting a child working below age-related expectations.
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, and creativity in their approach.
  • Have knowledge of or experience using visual aids, sensory tools, and reward systems.
  • Be passionate about inclusive education and helping pupils reach their potential.
