About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Arabic-speaking Teaching Assistant to support a student with special educational needs (SEN) in a mainstream secondary school. The student has recently arrived from Kuwait and is in the early stages of learning English. This is an excellent opportunity for a native Arabic speaker to make a meaningful difference in the life of a young learner by providing tailored educational support and helping them settle into their new environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for the student with SEN requirements, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Act as a bridge between the student and their peers, facilitating communication and integration.
  • Assist in developing basic English language skills while offering explanations in Arabic to aid understanding.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to adapt lesson plans and resources to meet the student's needs.
  • Monitor and report on the student's progress to the SEN coordinator and teaching staff.
  • Ensure the student's safety and wellbeing at all times.

Requirements

  • Native or fluent Arabic speaker (essential).
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn strategies for supporting students who are new to English.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
