Overview of the Role:
Pertemps is looking for a motivated and self-driven Legal Assistant to join the Planning & Regeneration team at the London Borough of Harrow. This temporary position offers a competitive pay rate of 15.39 - 18.21 per hour (PAYE, negotiable based on experience), excellent training, career development support, and 21 days of holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).
HB Public Law is a shared service among several North West London boroughs and home counties local authorities. Staff are employed by Harrow Council but work for various public sector clients.
Main Purpose of a Legal Assistant (Planning & Regeneration):
" Carry out legal work and develop, implement, and support innovative practice management processes.
" Advise on and manage legal files for commercial matters, including property, planning, regeneration, contract, and procurement law, on behalf of shared services councils and other clients. Opportunities exist to move between teams and cover a broader range of legal specialisms.
" Provide advice, conduct research, and support lawyers as needed across various team functions.
" Assist with training officers, which may occur outside normal office hours and off-site.
" Work under the supervision of qualified colleagues and provide administrative and systems assistance as a super user of an electronic case management system.
Requirements:
" Must hold an LPC qualification.
" Proficient in English law, practice, and procedures related to property, planning, regeneration, contracts, and procurement.
" Understanding of public law principles as they apply to local government.
Skills:
1. Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
2. Competence in meeting Lexcel standards for file management.
3. Excellent client care skills.
4. Proficiency in conducting legal research.
5. Proficient use of Microsoft products and a case management system.
6. Skilled in drafting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings.
