Soft Services Facilities Manager

About the Role

As the Soft Services Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Centre's cleaning and security teams, ensuring high standards of service delivery, compliance, and team performance. Working closely with the Centre Manager and Hard FM Services Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership:
  • Manage cleaning and security teams, ensuring robust procedures and adherence to standards.
  • Oversee service delivery and contractor performance, holding teams accountable for results.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and statutory requirements.
  • People Management:
  • Inspire, lead, and motivate team members to achieve excellence.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, professional development, and high performance.
  • Budget Management:
  • Take ownership of the Soft Services budget, ensuring cost efficiency and accurate forecasting.
  • Contribute to annual budget setting based on operational needs and objectives.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
  • Maintain site H&S procedures and documentation to the highest standard.
  • Conduct regular audits, patrols, and inspections to ensure a safe environment.
  • Respond to incidents, manage risk, and oversee accident/near-miss reporting.
  • Relationship Building:
  • Collaborate with tenants to ensure compliance with operational policies.
  • Build partnerships with local authorities, emergency services, and community groups.
  • Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG):
  • Gather and report ESG metrics to support sustainability initiatives and benchmark against industry standards.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing security, cleaning, and/or maintenance services in a busy, customer-facing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH or NEBOSH).
  • Budget management experience with a focus on efficiency and results.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of a retail environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the retail or shopping centre sector.
  • First Aid qualification and experience liaising with emergency services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A track record of driving continuous improvement and innovation.
