- Lead on emergency planning and business continuity workstreams, including the Corporate Major Incident Plan and Rest Centres.
- Horizon scan for potential crises and provide proactive advice and action.
- Deputise for the Head of Civil Contingencies when required, managing the Council’s emergency response team.
- Ensure business continuity and emergency plans are tested, maintained, and in line with best practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and implement effective emergency and business continuity strategies.
- Hybrid – a mix of home working and office/onsite client premises.
- Must drive own vehicle for Council-related business (Driving Licence, DVLA check, and proof of business insurance required).
- Must also be able to drive a Council vehicle (Driving Licence and DVLA check required).
- Enhanced DBS check.
- In-depth knowledge of emergency planning, business continuity, and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
- Proven experience in leading emergency response and continuity projects.
- Strong decision-making and communication skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work outside normal hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Degree or equivalent work experience in Emergency Planning & Business Continuity.
