Mandarin Speaking Buyer

Do you have second-to-none negotiation skills paired with excellent buying/purchasing experience? Are you able to fluently read, write and speak in Mandarin?

I am on the hunt for an experienced, Mandarin speaking Buyer for a Harrow-based client who has specialised in distribution for over 40 years! My client prides themselves on creating and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with their suppliers and delivering high-quality products to their customers. The successful candidate will manage and control relationships with Far East suppliers, particularly in China and involves a variety of responsibilities, including order management, price negotiation, and critical path management across a range of SKUs. This is an office-based, Monday-Friday position working from 8am-4:30pm with a 45 minute lunch break + a 15 minute tea break. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement: Manage the purchase of various homeware and household products, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement.
• Negotiation: Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
• Order Management: Processing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring timely receipt of goods.
• Communication: Maintain strong communication with suppliers, customers and manufacturers via telephone, email, Skype, and FaceTime.
• Travel: Travel to China, Hong Kong and/or Taiwan to meet suppliers face-to-face as needed.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with team members, including packaging artwork designers, merchandisers, and sales staff.

Requirements:

• Fluency in Mandarin (reading, writing, and speaking).
• Strong background in procurement & buying/purchasing.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel i.e. to China for supplier meetings on occasion.

Benefits & Package:

• Salary of £28,000 - £30,000 DOE.
