Senior Housing Benefits Officer needed in North London Paying  £18.21 per hr ref 012599

Full time hours on a temporary basis

Managing a team focused on complex financial assessments, recovering overpaid benefits, and fraud prevention. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing operational performance of the Financial Assessment services team

  • Conducting quality checks and analysis to improve training and business practices

  • Prioritizing and managing team workload, setting performance objectives, and taking remedial actions

  • Collaborating with other Corporate Finance teams and managers for appropriate prioritization

  • Reviewing and recommending changes to legislation and policies

  • Transferring knowledge and skills to new and existing staff

  • Working with internal and external partners to meet delivery and performance targets

  • Implementing process changes as required by DWP business technical issues

  • Handling complex enquiries from MPs, elected members, and claimants

  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and guidance

  • Undertaking full assessments and home visits for complex cases

  • Supervising overpayment staff and ensuring effective overpayment collection

  • Supporting and supervising the Joint Team, attending surgeries, and contributing to campaigns

  • Preparing and attending assessment appeals and representing the client in court

  • Referring suspected fraud claims for investigation
