We are seeking a dedicated Fostering Social Worker to join an Independent Fostering Agency. The role involves training and supporting foster carers, as well as promoting the welfare of children placed with foster carers, ensuring their needs are met in a safe and nurturing environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Regularly visit foster homes, interact with and assess the well-being of children and young people in placement.
  • Carry out Form F assessments and present them to the fostering panel.
  • Maintain clear records and comply with agency policy, legislation, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Prepare paperwork for annual foster carer reviews, ensuring all necessary checks of the foster home are completed in advance.
  • Work in partnership with local authority social workers to ensure foster carers meet the child’s welfare needs.
  • Operationalise the child’s care plan and report on safeguarding issues in placements.
  • Notify the manager of any concerns regarding the care of foster children in placement.
  • Oversee placements on their caseload and discuss the progress of children during supervision with the service manager.
  • Keep records up-to-date and work to agency policy and procedures.
  • Initiate and carry out local recruitment activities in conjunction with the Carer Recruitment Officer, analysing the effectiveness of methods used.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualification in Social Work and registered with Social Work England.
  • Full clean driver’s licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Knowledge of childcare legislation and regulations, National Minimum Standards, and Standards in Foster Care.
  • Experience in social work is preferred.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
