We are working with a vibrant primary school in Harrow that is looking for an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team. If you’re an aspiring Play Therapist or simply want to gain hands-on experience in supporting children with diverse needs, this is your chance! You will be helping children express themselves, overcome challenges, and thrive in a supportive, creative learning environment.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEND), including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges).
  • Assist in using communication tools like PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and Makaton.
  • Help children regulate emotions and behaviours through art, play, music, and creative activities.
  • Observe and support interventions such as Speech and Language Therapy, Play Therapy, and Art Therapy.
  • Be part of a team delivering sensory and structured interventions aimed at social and emotional development.
  • Support personal care routines where necessary, ensuring a positive, safe, and caring environment.
  • Encourage creative self-expression, helping children engage with their learning in their own unique way.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Graduates in Psychology, Art, Creative Therapies, or those interested in retraining for therapy-based careers.
  • A strong passion for Play Therapy, SEND education, Autism support, or Neurodiversity.
  • Compassionate, adaptable, and patient individuals who believe in the power of creative communication.
  • An interest in non-verbal communication, and visual, musical, or artistic expression.
  • A commitment to the role for at least the academic year to build trust and consistency with the children.
