Are you passionate about supporting children with speech and language needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Harrow, working closely with children who have communication difficulties. This role is ideal for someone with a degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist looking to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting.



About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (Speech & Language Focus), you will work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and Speech and Language Therapists to support children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN). You will play a key role in helping students develop their communication skills and confidence in the classroom.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for children with speech and language difficulties

  • Implementing targeted interventions designed by Speech and Language Therapists

  • Assisting in developing students' social communication skills and confidence

  • Supporting teachers in adapting lesson materials to meet individual needs

  • Monitoring student progress and contributing to support plans

  • Working closely with therapists, teachers, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to learning



Requirements:

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy or experience working with children with SLCN

  • Strong understanding of speech, language, and communication strategies

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A valid DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
