HGV Mechanic & Plant Maintenance Technician

Hartlepool

£40,000 - £45,000 per annum + Company Van & Fuel Card

Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm   

A well-established company based in Hartlepool is seeking a skilled HGV & Plant Maintenance Technician to join their team. This is a hybrid role involving both hands-on maintenance of vehicles and plant equipment. The ideal candidate will possess the technical expertise to maintain a small fleet of HGVs, vans, and a variety of plant machinery used in tyre recycling.

The Candidate;

Essential Skills:

  • Level 3 qualification for vehicle sign-off is essential.
  • Experience in HGV maintenance and plant machinery repairs.
  • Ability to work independently in a stand-alone role without managerial oversight.
  • Class 2 driving license is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and plant machinery is critical, with HGV experience being a priority.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Manage and maintain a fleet of 5 HGVs and 2 vans.
  • Perform regular services, MOT preparation, and six-weekly vehicle inspections.
  • Carry out ad-hoc repairs and routine maintenance of plant equipment
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with health and safety standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform inspections on rigid HGVs
  • Maintain accurate records of all services and repairs.
  • Sign off work and documentation (Level 3 qualification required).
  • Inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of Units & Trailers
  • Application of preventative maintenance routines.
  • Continual safe use of all VMU tools, hand-tools, plant and equipment.
  • To accurately use and interpret outputs from vehicle diagnostic equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure standard working process and procedures are followed, and that associated documentation is fully completed as directed
  • Diagnose and rectify any faults that may arise
  • Identify and order parts as and when required
