Financial ControllerThe Financial Controller, in my industry leading client, will play a critical role in overseeing the company’s financial health, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations. They will be responsible for leading the month-end process, supporting the finance team with technical queries, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The Financial Controller will work closely with the Head of Finance to provide strategic financial insights, supporting the business in making informed decisions.    Responsibilities
  • Month-end lead – oversee and manage all month-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist the bookkeeper and finance administrator with complex technical accounting queries.
  • Ensure financial accuracy across all accounting processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process, ensuring timely and smooth completion.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Head of Finance (HOF) at Robertet UK/Omega and contribute to monthly group financial reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow and forecasts to ensure financial stability and proactive risk management.
  • Assist the HOF with budgets preparation as needed.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial controls and processes to safeguard company assets.
  • Support tax compliance (e.g., VAT, corporation tax) and liaise with external tax advisors as needed.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements within the finance function, driving best practices.
  • Provide financial insights to senior management to support business strategy and decision-making.

  • Timely and accurate month-end reporting, completed within the required deadlines.
  • Smooth audit process, with minimal adjustments required from external auditors.
  • Strong financial controls and compliance, ensuring no material misstatements or process gaps.
  • Accurate financial forecasting, ensuring effective cash flow and budget management.
  • Effective leadership and support for the finance team, resolving technical queries promptly.
     Qualifications       Fully qualified ACA or ACCA.
  • Background in audit or practice, with a strong understanding of financial controls.  
Skills & personal qualities      
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a finance role, with at least 2 years at Financial Controller level or equivalent.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience in FRS 101 and FRS 102.
  • Experience managing month-end processes, financial reporting, and external audits.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insights.
  • Leadership and team management experience, supporting and mentoring finance staff.
  • Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP) and advanced Excel skills (e.g., financial modelling, pivot tables).
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, balancing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
