Rotherwood Education are currently seeking a highly motivated Science Technician to join a well established secondary school in the Haslingden area. This is a full-timeongoing role, starting as soon as possible.
The successfulScience Technician will:
- Play a key role in supporting teaching staff and ensuring the smooth running of practical science lessons.
- Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for laboratory lessons.
- Assist teachers and students during experiments, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Maintain and organise the science laboratories, including equipment management and stock control.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Support the department with administrative duties as required.
As aScience Technician , you will ideally have the following:
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician or a similar role (though full training can be provided).
- A strong understanding of the scientific disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and a practical knowledge of lab procedures.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for students.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., A-levels in Science or equivalent; a degree in a scientific subject is desirable).
- Possess a current criminal record check (Enhanced DBS certificate that is registered with the online update service) or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration
- Provide details of at least two referees covering the last 5 years' work history
