We are looking to hire an experienced Chef or Sous Chef looking for a step up! You would have previous experience frying, flipping, seasoning, sautéing, creating new and exciting menus and have the ability to supervise the kitchen staff and take responsibility for ensuring that their team follows safety and health procedures.

We are a privately owned public house 9 miles outside of Brighton situated in the South downs national park. The pub with four bed and breakfast rooms based in a semi rural location within mid Sussex, own transport is therefore essential for this position.

We are passionate about what we do and locally sourced produce is key to our business. We also frequently cater for large group bookings, weddings, and buffets so there is always plenty of variety.

Applicant should be professional and well presented as position requires communication with people at all levels. You should be a self-motivated team player, capable of working in a busy pub environment.

You will need to be passionate about cooking, hardworking and reliable.

Duties will include and not limited to:

  • Constantly advising the Head Chef on needs and ordering requirements
  • Checking the cleanliness, stock control, organisation and standards.
  • Work as part of a team in a constructive manner and have a committed approach to the development of creative service in the kitchen.
  • Be aware of Health and Safety and Hygiene regulations
  • Training new staff and helping them develop their own career

Sous Chef Skills:

  • Strong background in high quality Gastro pubs or hotels.
  • Having work as either Senior Chef de Partie, Junior Sous Chef or Sous Chef in your previous role.
  • You must be used to working with fresh ingredients and place a heavy emphasis on quality and consistency.
  • As a member of our enthusiastic kitchen team you will be responsible for delivering excellent service and product knowledge
