We are working with a well-established and highly regarded SEN school in the Hassocks area, which caters for students aged 11-19 with autism and other complex needs. The school provides a supportive and stimulating learning environment, where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

As a teaching assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other staff to provide learning support and pastoral care to the students. You will assist with the planning and delivery of lessons, monitor and assess student progress, and help with behaviour management and safeguarding. You will also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and school trips.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A passion for working with SEN students and a commitment to their wellbeing and development
  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant, or learning mentor in a SEN setting
  • A relevant qualification or training in SEN, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent
  • A good understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and the National Curriculum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, and a willingness to learn and develop your skills
