Our client is looking for an accounts auditor to join their company based in Hastings.

The role will entail completing audits for a wide range of clients both from offices as well as at clients onsite at their offices in the South East and London (up to 50% of time may be spent at clients).

The successful applicant will work as part of a team, reporting directly to the Directors, and will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients, leading audit assignments, accounts production, and supervising junior staff. The successful applicant will play a key role in developing junior staff, providing guidance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. An ability to build and maintain client relationships will be crucial in this client facing role, with an emphasis on ensuring that the firm’s reputation for excellence is upheld.

The role will be predominantly based in our Hastings office and will entail working with colleagues across all 3 offices.

Main Duties

  • Attend pre-audit meetings and plan assignments in collaboration with the Directors and clients.
  • Gathering, organising, formatting and preparing financial data in spreadsheets.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff, offering guidance and support throughout the audit process.
  • Plan a risk-based audit approach and design effective audit tests.
  • Conduct audit work to meet objectives and compliance standards.
  • Manage and control job budgets efficiently.
  • Finalise audit files for Director review.
  • Ensure audit work is carried out in accordance with UK auditing standards.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with clients.
  • Drive business development and identify opportunities for growth.

Skills

  • Intermediate IT skills in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in UK GAAP and FRS 102 reporting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of clients
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, ability to work to deadlines.
  • Self-accountability
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ideally ACA/ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience from working in a similar position whether having worked as an Internal Auditor or in Practice.
  • A strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards is essential.
