Workshop Manager Heavy Plant & Machinery

Location: Hatfield
Salary: £55-60k

Teknikal Specialist Recruitment are working with an established organisation in the plant hire and heavy machinery sector is looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee workshop operations, ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and develop a team of workshop engineers, trainees, and yard staff.
Oversee workload allocation to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
Provide training and mentorship to improve team skills and performance.
Promote a positive and safety-conscious workplace culture.
Manage the servicing, maintenance, and repairs of heavy plant and machinery.
Ensure all machinery is maintained efficiently to minimise downtime.
Maintain accurate service records and ensure regulatory compliance.
Implement and oversee health & safety protocols within the workshop.
Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure equipment availability meets demand.
Monitor workshop performance and ensure key targets are met.

Key Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in workshop management within heavy plant, construction, or equipment hire.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and develop a team.
Technical expertise in diagnostics, hydraulics, and electrics related to heavy machinery.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Hands-on problem-solving ability and a commitment to safety and compliance.
Relevant engineering/mechanical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Health & Safety certifications (IOSH/NEBOSH preferred but not essential).
Full UK driving licence required.
