Experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant - Immediate StartLocation: Hatfield, HertfordshireSchool Rating: Good (Ofsted)

We are currently looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our client school, a well-established and supportive primary school in Hatfield, for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid SEN experience who is passionate about helping children reach their full potential.

About the Role:

You will be working with small groups of pupils who are not yet working at age-related expectations. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with many having a diagnosis of Autism and associated Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Some children may also display challenging behaviour.

In this role, you'll work closely with class teachers to provide personalised support, helping pupils engage in learning and develop both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Pupils:

  • Deliver targeted support to individuals or small groups under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Follow pupils' EHCPs and behaviour plans, applying agreed strategies and reporting changes or concerns.
  • Assist in managing behaviour positively and sensitively, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Keep accurate records of progress and achievement in line with school procedures.

Supporting Teaching & Learning:

  • Prepare, organise, and maintain learning resources.
  • Support classroom activities and contribute to the smooth running of daily routines.
  • Supervise pupils during lessons, lunch, and break times.
  • Assist with classroom displays and prepare teaching aids as directed.
  • Complete admin tasks such as photocopying and preparing materials.

Supporting the Curriculum:

  • Use communication tools to support pupils' learning.
  • Incorporate ICT where appropriate to enhance pupil engagement.
  • Help with the delivery of school-wide initiatives and curriculum-related events.

Supporting the School:

  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Uphold the school's commitment to high standards, teamwork, and pupil achievement.
  • Promote a positive school ethos through consistency and collaboration with staff.

About You:

  • Hold a recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experienced in supporting pupils with SEN, particularly Autism and communication needs.
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or similar communication systems is beneficial.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Dedicated to making a meaningful impact on pupils' learning and development.
