M&E Building Services Technician

We are seeking a dedicated M&E Building Services Technician to join our Estates Engineering team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable and compliant operation of estate-wide services and equipment, serving all business functions at our facility. The successful candidate will deliver a high standard of mechanical and electrical services, plan and undertake routine maintenance, and work collaboratively within the team to support our business needs.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Participate in on-call duties approximately 1 week per month, including covering absences due to holiday and sickness as required.
  • Conduct routine planned preventative maintenance within critical and non-critical environments.
  • Ensure timely closure of remedial and service requests.
  • Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) for running equipment and respond to alarm conditions.
  • Investigate mechanical/electrical faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective remedies.
  • Assist with installation work and small projects as needed.
  • Complete and file documentation required for statutory, health and safety, and GxP standards.
  • Manage contractor site inductions and ensure work starts safely.
  • Minimise energy consumption through effective control and use of plant and systems.
  • Provide feedback to the supervisor as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds electrical qualification or equivalent (BS7671 & C&G 2391).
  • Strong Mechanical Experience
  • Educated to ONC/HNC level.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Significant engineering experience in a similar regulated environment.
  • Experience with steam boilers, including blowdowns and water treatment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard office hours when necessary.
  • Experience with CMMS and BMS systems.

Bonus Skills:

  • City & Guilds mechanical qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with VSDs, motor controls, and relay logic.
  • Knowledge of domestic and low-temperature hot water systems.
  • Familiarity with AHUs, FCUs, chilled water, and compressed air systems.
  • Working knowledge of “Permit to work” systems.
  • IOSH certification.
  • Experience in a critical environment, particularly in pharmaceuticals.
  • Understanding of water systems and associated risks (ACoPs L8/water treatment).
