Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Class 1 Shunter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and trailers within the yard, ensuring that all operations are conducted in compliance with safety regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining the flow of logistics and supporting our delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 vehicles to manoeuvre trailers and containers within the yard.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in safe working condition.
- Safely couple and uncouple trailers from prime movers.
- Maintain an organised yard by ensuring that all vehicles are parked correctly and securely.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods as required.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate movements and ensure operational efficiency.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations while on duty.
Skills
- Valid Class 1 driving license.
- Experience in commercial driving.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety checks and maintenance procedures.
- Excellent spatial awareness and ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with team members effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Shifts:
- 7am to 5pm - 10 hours - 19.01 p/h
- 3pm to 3am - 10 hours - 22.81
