Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Controls/Panel Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control panels for the water industry, ensuring they meet safety standards, specifications, and functionality requirements. This role requires an understanding of electrical systems, components, and design software, as well as the ability to collaborate with engineers and other departments to create reliable and compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Drafting: Develop detailed electrical panel designs, including layout drawings, wiring diagrams, and component specifications using CAD software (SE Electrical, or similar tools).
- Panel Specifications: Specify electrical components (circuit breakers, relays, PLCs, terminals, etc.) based on project requirements and industry standards.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant standards (WIMES, MED).
- Documentation: Prepare clear and concise technical documentation, including bill of materials (BOM) and wiring schematics.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of panel designs to identify potential issues or inefficiencies, ensuring designs meet quality and performance expectations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers and project managers to ensure designs are achievable and meet project timelines.
- Troubleshooting: Support troubleshooting and problem-solving for existing panels or systems, providing solutions to electrical and design issues as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Education: HNC in Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical panel design or a related field. Familiarity with industrial control systems and power generation is beneficial.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD software such as SE Electrcial; experience with PLC programming or HMI design is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of Standards: Knowledge of BS7671, WIMES, MED is beneficial
- Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in designs and documentation.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members and clients.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office or workshop environment.
- Occasional travel to customer sites.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Core hours 7.00 - 15.30
