Are you a dedicated and experienced SENCO looking for a new challenge? We are working with a thriving SEMH School located in Havant, and we are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate SENCO to join their team.
SENCO Job Role
As SENCO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the school provides the highest quality of education for all our students, including those with special educational needs. You will work closely with the teachers and support staff to identify and support children who require additional assistance, and you will develop and implement strategies to enable them to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record as a SENCO with experience of working with children with SEN, and will have a deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and will be able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including parents, outside agencies and other professionals.
About you
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Possess the National SENDCo Award (or an equivalent, recognised SEN qualification).
- Have substantial SENDCo experience in a primary setting, with the ability to effectively adapt strategies for a secondary SEMH environment.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements, particularly in relation to EHCPs and Annual Reviews.
- Skilled in working collaboratively with the local authority and external professionals to secure necessary funding and implement impactful strategies.
- Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues, parents, carers, and external partners.
- Show dedication to promoting an inclusive ethos and ensuring optimal outcomes for students with SEN.
- Proven ability to drive outstanding pupil progress.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in safeguarding practices and ensuring the safety and welfare of children.
