We are looking for a generalist HR Advisor who is used to managing their own workload and administration undertaking all of their own administration to join an existing HR team to assist with the provision of advice to managers and employees regarding employment legislation, terms and conditions and the operation of HR

policies and procedures within the business. An ideal candidate will hold a CIPD level 5 or equivalent with good experience of working at advisor level.

This opportunity is full time 8am – 5pm daily and fully office based – there is no flexibility with this

Duties and responsibilities

  • Participate in investigations, disciplinary and grievance cases and general ER matters, including assisting with the collation of meeting agendas, supporting meetings with HR advice and minute taking, and issuing of letters/paperwork.
  • Support recruitment activities and probationary period reviews. This will include undertaking exit interviews, placing adverts & liaising with agencies, maintaining applicant details, assisting with short-listing candidates, arranging and conducting interviews, generating offer paperwork and assisting with the HR onboarding process through to completion of probationary periods.
  • Assist with the recruitment of Apprentices and regular monitoring of their training requirements and general performance, including liaison with CITB/college, to ensure any concerns are resolved.
  • Support the Company’s work experience programme, including liaising with local schools, colleges & local organisations regarding placement requests, arranging interviews, organising the relevant paperwork, undertaking inductions, assisting with tutor visits and undertaking end of placement meetings.
  • Assist with ad hoc social value projects as requested, including community and charity events that are being supported by the Company.
  • Assist with the maintenance of Holiday and Absence records and support Return to Work Meetings and Attendance Review Meetings, including collating information, attending meetings, minute-taking and issuing of paperwork.
  • Assist with arranging occupational health appointments, updating of health records, liaising with managers regarding any work adjustments/restrictions that may need to be implemented and supporting managers regarding capability cases.
  • Assist with the completion of DSE assessments, ensuring they are undertaken making sure any issues raised are actioned in a timely manner.
  • Assist with ensuring employees are qualified/fit to drive Company vehicles and are following the Driver’s Policy.
  • Assist with the collation and administration of information for the monthly payroll.
  • Undertake ad hoc HR project work as and when required and participate with the implementation of processes and procedures.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ideally, CIPD Level 5 Certificate in HR Management (or equivalent) & practical experience working within an HR team at Advisor level
  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365, in particular strong excel skills (including setting up spreadsheets, use of formulas, pivot tables etc)
  • Excellent administration skills with strong attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines and juggle a varied and busy workload
  • Must be able to gather and analyse information skilfully
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
