Our client based in the Havant area is looking to recruit an experienced Stores Team Leader.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the holder of this position shall have hands-on responsibility for supervising 12 direct reports operating and controlling all the activities associated with the plants stock rooms. This shall include responsibility for consignment stock, off-site storage as well as responsibility for supporting packaging and dispatch functions in periods of high demand.

The role shall encompass various aspects of materials and inventory management and will require the holder to supervise and train all stores personnel in the correct procedures and practices associated with running the Stores.

A thorough understanding and experience of MRPII (preferably MFG-Pro) together with best practice in inventory management will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Record Accuracy

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory balances (98%+) with respect to parts identification, storage location and stored quantity for all materials in all stores.
  • Responsible for the planning and co-ordination of Perpetual Inventory Routines ensuring constant measurement of cycle counts performed, results of counts and the investigation and rectification of the cause of error counts.
  • Responsibility for the planning and execution of Year End Stock Takes.
  • Maintaining accurate transactional traceability, audit trails and general data integrity.

Supervisory

  • Responsible for the supervision of all Stores Staff together with the resource planning of departmental activities, providing personnel performance planning and appraisal, on the job training for new staff, attending production meetings, whilst working closely with supervisory personnel of other departments to resolve problems, clarify procedures, expedite, and facilitate work etc.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager in administering personnel policies within the Stores, to include selection and hiring of personnel and participation of grievance procedure etc.

Material Receipts

  • Responsible for maintaining detailed records of all materials received. All materials received shall be processed within 24 Hours of arrival at the Goods Inwards Dock.

Work Order & Spares Kitting

  • Responsible for supporting manufacturing with timely work order kitting as planned and specified by the Materials Planning Manager.
  • Responsible for supporting Sales Coordination with the timely and accurate picking of spares requirements.

COSHH

  • Responsible for Health & Safety awareness and Risk Assessments.

Continuous Improvement

  • To take a pro-active and leading role in the continuous improvement programme associated with the advancement of the Supply Chain function.

Packaging / Dispatch

  • Responsibility for covering the required roles during periods of absence and periods of high workload.

Skills:

  • Ability to lead and work cross functionally.
  • Effective people/ interpersonal, communication and customer care skills.
  • Good attention to detail with good numeracy skills.
  • Strong knowledge of stores and shipping procedures and operation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Flexible in hours and approach to support the business at critical times.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility a plus.
