Stores Team Leader - Join a Global Aerospace Leader!

We're proud to be recruiting for a Stores Team Leader on behalf of my client, a globally recognised aerospace company. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual with leadership experience in inventory and materials management to step into a pivotal role and make a real impact within a thriving business.

The Role

As the Stores Team Leader, you'll report directly to the Supply Chain Manager and take hands-on responsibility for supervising a team of 12 staff. You'll oversee all activities associated with the plant's stockrooms, including consignment stock, off-site storage, and supporting packaging and dispatch during peak demand periods.

This is a varied role where you'll ensure operations are running smoothly across inventory management, staff supervision, process improvement, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Accuracy:

  • Maintain inventory accuracy (98%+) by ensuring precise part identification, storage locations, and stock quantities.
  • Lead perpetual inventory routines, investigate and correct discrepancies, and coordinate annual stock takes.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Supervise and lead a team of 12 staff, ensuring resource planning, performance reviews, appraisals, and on-the-job training.
  • Collaborate with other department supervisors to resolve issues, clarify procedures, and ensure seamless operations.

Material Handling and Kitting:

  • Ensure materials received are processed within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Oversee timely work order kitting for manufacturing and accurate picking for spares requirements.

Health, Safety, and Housekeeping:

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to COSHH and risk assessment procedures.
  • Minimise risks of injury through best practices in housekeeping and safety awareness.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving advancements in the supply chain function.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining detailed SOPs and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrable experience in supervising and managing teams, with the ability to motivate, train, and develop staff.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in MRPII systems (MFG-Pro desirable) and best practices in inventory management.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of stores and shipping procedures within a manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent organisational and numeracy skills, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt hours and approach to meet critical business demands.
