Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Water Sector

We're seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead project design and delivery in the water sector, from tender development to project coordination. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape a newly established Design Hub, driving innovation in water and wastewater treatment design. Either an existing Principal or a Senior looking to take the next step we are looking for someone who wants the independence to grow their own team and processes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
  • Manage design reviews, approvals, and technical oversight on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
  • Conduct site visits to verify, troubleshoot, and resolve project challenges.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5-8+ years' experience in mechanical design (water sector preferred).
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered Engineer status desirable).
  • Expertise in process plant systems, CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit), and PDM systems.
  • Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical on-site experience with a focus on health and safety.
