Primary trained Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity? Prospero Teaching is excited to recruit for a dedicated teacher to join our client SEMH Secondary School in Havant. This unique role involves working with secondary-aged pupils who are following a Primary level curriculum due to various needs, offering a chance to make a significant impact on their educational journey.

With small class sizes of approximately 8 pupils, you will have the opportunity to provide personalised attention and support. The role is Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with an early finish on Fridays. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching within KS2 and possess strong behaviour management skills. Previous experience working with pupils with SEN and SEMH issues is highly desirable.

As a SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, personalised teaching utilising therapeutic approaches to support students with SEMH needs.
  • Design and conduct lessons that enhance student's social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Establish a secure, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals to achieve positive outcomes for students.
  • Effectively manage behaviour and encourage positive learning attitudes.
  • Track, assess, and document student progress to guide teaching and set goals.
  • Include outdoor and diverse learning experiences to fully engage students.
  • Ensure the welfare of students and adhere strictly to Child Protection Protocols.
  • Engage in professional development and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Adapt flexibly to meet the varying needs of students and the school's requirements.

About you:

  • You have qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
