An exciting opportunity for a Buyer/Purchasing specialist is available at a well-established defence organisation in Havant, offering a salary up to £42,000.
This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent.
Candidates should have prior experience in the defence industry or in purchasing IT, along with strong negotiation and analytical skills.
The role involves developing procurement strategies, managing contracts, and building relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in purchasing or procurement is preferred for this role.

An exciting opportunity for a Buyer/Purchasing specialist to join a well-established defence organisation based in Havant offering a salary up to £42,000. This is a 12month FTC with the opportunity to extend or go permanent.

Candidates who have previous experience within the defence industry or experience purchasing IT will be suitable for this position.

Role responsibilities of the Buyer include:

Developing and implementing procurement strategies
Assisting in negotiating non-standard terms and agreements as required to meet set objectives
Processing and purchasing IT and Telecoms
Developing strong positive relationships with internal and external suppliers/stakeholders
Managing telecoms and datacentre contracts
Gathering requirements, issuing and analysing Request for Quotes
Planning, prioritising and scheduling work to achieve multiple deadlines

Role specifications of the Buyer include

Data literate with strong analytical skills
Experience in IT/computing procurement or Telecoms
Strong negotiation skills and experience managing contracts
Experience using ERP/MRP systems

Salary

£38k-£42k

This role offers a 4-day working week Monday-Thursday. The role also offers hybrid working- Monday in office and Tuesday-Thursday working from home.

The role will be well suited to you if you have held a position within purchasing or procurement as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Buyer, IT Buyer, IT Procurement Specialist, Procurement Officer or Sourcing Specialist.
