Prospero Teaching are seeking a passionate SENDCO to join our client SEMH School's leadership team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing our inclusion strategy, supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and ensuring that all students have access to high-quality education.

As a SENCO, you will:

  • Lead and oversee the Annual Review process for EHCPs, ensuring timely completion and full compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Chair and manage emergency Annual Reviews, collaborating with parents, carers, and external professionals to adapt and enhance provision as needed.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the school, ensuring SEND provision aligns with the school improvement plan (SIP).
  • Monitor and review the quality of SEND provision across the school, identifying areas for improvement and implementing practical solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Local Authority (LA) to secure appropriate funding and resources to meet students' evolving needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor provisions outlined in EHCPs.
  • Provide professional guidance, training, and support to staff, promoting high-quality teaching and inclusive practices.
  • Maintain accurate SEND registers and provision maps, ensuring up-to-date records and data that inform strategic decisions.
  • Support smooth transitions for students, liaising with staff, parents, carers, external agencies, and other schools to coordinate and enhance support.
  • Develop and implement teaching and learning initiatives, ensuring quality-first teaching across the school.
  • Effectively communicate the needs of students.

About you:

  • You have qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and appropriate SENDCO qualification or willingness to undertake SENDCO training.
  • Proven experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
