Reed Business Support is working with a manufacturing business in Haverhill. They are seeking a skilled People Manager to join their team. This role is based in their Haverhill manufacturing facility with occasional travel to their Colchester office. Initially you would need to travel to Colchester once a week to meet the team and build rapports. Moving forward you would need to visit the office once every month.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage HR cases and provide advice to managers, ensuring effective linkage between the Haverhill factory and Colchester office.
  • Play a key role in the development of the HR function, focusing on engagement, management development, and culture change.
  • Handle a variety of tasks from covering for the People Coordinator (they work on a part time basis) to addressing complex grievances and delivering training to supervisors.
  • Provide pragmatic HR services to local managers on recruitment, performance, and absence management.
  • Coach and support managers in conducting key meetings with staff.
  • Collaborate with Operational Managers to balance factory interests with best practice and fairness in staff management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in HR within a manufacturing environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent, or Level 3 with extensive experience.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly and work proactively.
  • Credibility, empathy, and assertiveness in managing team performance.
  • Strong desire to promote the HR function and make a significant impact.
