We are looking for a Maintenance Shift Supervisor to join our Wensleydale Engineering team to work across both of our Manufacturing sites (Hawes & Kirkby Malzeard). In this role, you will cover the maintenance of our state-of-the-art cheesemaking equipment. Work as part of a close knit engineering team, you will be responsible for the supervision of maintenance to site equipment and infrastructure, steam, air water and effluent.


As the supervisor of the Engineering team, you will Champion safety and promote a culture of passion and integrity, in line with Saputos core company values. The position reports into the Group Engineering Manager for Wensleydale.


YOULL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY


  • Working with internal customers and stakeholders in delivering the agreed production and maintenance plans. Ensuring work is delivered safetly, to the right food safety and quality standards, whilst adhering to environmental and sustainable policies.
  • Managing people, plant and process issues with the support of the Engineering manager.
  • Actively supporting cross functional continuous improvement, carrying out root cause analysis, development of planned activity and ensuring all key meetings have an engineering presence.
  • Driving all Site and Engineering KPIs daily. Ensuring targets are met for; safety and statutory compliance, resource utilization, planned maintenance compliance and behavioural safety.
  • Supporting Operations Shift Manager in prioritizing issues and best utilizing equipment availability to drive OEE performance.
  • Assisting in developing the engineering team through people development and mentoring.

  • Experienced in leading/overseeing an engineering team in a manufacturing site.
  • Engineering qualification: apprentice trained with HNC/Degree qualification.
  • Formal Safety qualification preferred but not essential (NEBOSH / IOSH).
  • Skilled at communicating at all levels.
  • Experienced interpreting data by using CMMS and MIS.
  • Have excellent fault finding (electrical, mechanical and automation) and problems solving skills.
