Your Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the school’s mission to provide every child with the best possible education. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Learning: Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons, helping children access the curriculum and participate fully in activities.
- Providing Individual Support: Work one-on-one or with small groups of children, offering additional help and guidance to meet their learning and emotional needs.
- Encouraging Positive Relationships: Build trust and positive connections with students to foster confidence and resilience.
- Supporting Classroom Management: Help maintain a calm and inclusive classroom environment, using effective strategies to manage behaviour.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, other support staff, and professionals to implement tailored education plans.
- Monitoring Progress: Observe and record student progress, sharing insights with the teaching team to support their development.
- Day-to-Day Assistance: Assist with classroom setup, supervision during breaks, and support for extracurricular activities or school trips.

- Experience working with children, ideally in a school setting or with those who have SEMH needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
- A good understanding of the primary curriculum and effective support strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
