I am seeking an experienced Plant Maintenance Engineer to join my renowned production engineering client based just north of Heathrow Airport, West London.

The role will be based in an engineering facility encompassing a large machining workshop, stores, specific areas where hazardous chemicals are used, office space and general amenities. The workshop contains cranes and hoists for the lifting of heavy engineering equipment.

The Plant Maintenance Engineer will provide general mechanical maintenance and electrical support across the whole site. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the maintenance and repair of all equipment and facility areas, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and safety.

Role: Plant Maintenance Engineer
Location: Hayes, Middlesex
Shift: Mon-Fri. plus call outs
Salary: From 28,898 plus overtime


Main responsibilities:
* Maintain and repair all equipment and facility areas to agreed standard, with the ability to identify detailed faults in a commercial engineering workshop and office facility.
* Complete daily checks on machines and equipment.
* Use and maintain overhead cranes & hoists (with training).
* Understand the working conditions and environment on a COMAH site.
* To work overtime at weekends on occasion.
* The nature of the job requires the applicant to come into contact with various greases and oils.
* To safely undertake manual handling, use of hand tools and power tools.
* The position and process involves lifting heavy aircraft components.
* To deal with external contractors attending site.


Ideal candidate profile:

Essential:

  • Extensive experience preferably within a similar role within plant maintenance
  • Mechanical/electrical background
  • Good understanding of pumps & motors
  • Ability to use tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to work under pressure with the minimum of supervision
  • Good physical strength required.
  • Copes well under pressure and can deliver what is required
  • Applicants must already hold the right to live and work in the UK at the time of application. Unfortunately, sponsorships cannot be provided now or in the future.


Desirable:
* Apprenticeship preferred.
* Preferred mechanical or electrical qualification.
* Experience of working at heights.
* Knowledge of pipework (PVC).
* Understanding of gas ovens / chiller units / rectifiers / air handling units / air conditioning.
