Welfare Assistant and Attendance Officer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Welfare Assistant and Attendance Officer to join a supportive and dynamic team. This combined role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students, ensuring their well-being and promoting excellent attendance.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Welfare Support:Supporting students' physical and emotional well-being, providing first aid when required, and assisting with any pastoral care needs. You will liaise closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure all students have the support they need to thrive.

  • Attendance Management:Monitoring and managing student attendance, following up on absences, and ensuring that the school's attendance policies are adhered to. You will work closely with the pastoral team to identify any attendance concerns and support strategies for improving student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and student welfare.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies regarding attendance concerns or welfare issues.
  • Follow up on unexplained student absences and ensure appropriate interventions are in place.
  • Support students with their personal development, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and valued in their school environment.
  • Ensure that attendance and welfare records are kept confidential and comply with safeguarding regulations.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A caring and empathetic individual who is passionate about supporting young people.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Previous experience in a welfare or attendance-related role is desirable but not essential.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, able to liaise effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm to support in an educational environment
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Ability to do data entry with a high level of administrative accuracy.
  • An understanding of social/welfare issues that affect children, families and schools.
  • Ability to make objective recommendations in a sensitive yet clear and concise way.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
