We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Welfare Officer to join a lovely team at a thriving mainstream primary school in Hayes. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in promoting the well-being of our students and ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing school environment.

As a Welfare Officer you will be required to:

  • Be the first point of contact for students experiencing emotional, social, or behavioural difficulties, offering support and guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that children's welfare needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of welfare concerns and interventions, ensuring that the information is kept confidential and secure.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies to promote positive mental health and well-being across the school.
  • Assist in managing student attendance and following up on absences or any concerns related to welfare.
  • Provide guidance and advice on safeguarding, ensuring the school follows safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Run small group or individual sessions for children to help with their emotional and social development.

The ideal candidate for a Welfare Officer will have:

  • Experience in a similar welfare or pastoral care role, ideally within a school environment, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
  • A compassionate, empathetic approach with a passion for supporting children's well-being.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., safeguarding, child protection, health and social care) is preferred but not essential.
