Superb opportunity to join a dynamic locally based accountancy firm who are seeking to recruit a Bookkeeper to join their friendly and experienced team at their offices in Haywards Heath. The role is permanent and can be full time 37.5 hours per week or part time 20 hours plus per week.

Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant. Office based role

Full time (37.5 hours per week) or Part Time (20 hours per week) permanent role

Mon-Fri office based hours.

The role - Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant/ Bookkeeper, you will manage the data entry for multiple clients using Dext, Xero, Quickbooks and Freeagent to produce the VAT returns ready for the accountants to review. You will also be confident working on limited company accounts prep to trial balance stage.

Duties and responsibilities

Ensure accurate data entry and maintain records with attention to detail and confidentiality.

Act as a point of contact for clients on VAT-related enquiries

Prepare VAT returns for review.

Ensure compliance with VAT legalisation.

Prepare limited company accounts to trial balance.

Post accruals, pre-payments and managing fixed asset depreciation.

Competently produce monthly/quarterly management accounts.

Bookkeeping for sole trader accounts using cash coding tools to prepare them for the tax return.

Experience, competencies and knowledge required:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy levels

Xero software experience (essential)

Quickbooks and Freeagent software experience (desirable)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience working on multiple clients, balancing deadlines, and prioritising tasks.

The ideal candidate for this Bookkeeping role is someone who has a strong background in bookkeeping and VAT, is detail oriented and passionate about providing an excellent service
