Evening Facilities Assistant

£13,371 - 14,551 per annum, Lindfield (outskirts), Monday to Friday 4pm to 9.30pm, Term-time plus holiday periods as required (37 weeks per year), Permanent, Uniform and PPE provided.

The Role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Evening Facilities Assistant to join the team at a thriving independent school nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Reporting to the Premises Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the school premises remain safe, clean, and welcoming for all users outside of normal school hours. This is a varied role that includes managing facilities hire, maintaining security, supporting events, and assisting with internal and external maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

You will act as the main point of contact for external hirers, ensuring the facilities are prepared and left in good condition. In addition, you will monitor the school's electronic locks, secure the buildings at the end of the day, and oversee visitor activity. The role involves responding to fire alarms, managing pool operations for hires, and promptly reporting health and safety concerns. You will also assist with setting up rooms for events and ensuring cleanliness in and around the school premises.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have experience in a general maintenance or cleaning role and a good understanding of health and safety at work. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, alongside the ability to work independently and manage time effectively. A professional, customer-focused attitude and physical fitness to work outside in various weather conditions are required.

Relevant trade qualifications, experience in a school setting, or knowledge of safe working practices are desirable but not essential.

Please note, due to rural location, you will need to have access to your own transport.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a Caretaker, Facilities Assistant, or Maintenance Operative.
