The Deputy Finance Manager will play a vital role in the Shared Services department of a renowned organisation in mid-Sussex. The role requires a team leader who can efficiently manage financial operations and provide strategic financial guidance.

Our client is a globally operating business operating out of Haywards Heath who also have a very strong footprint in the UK. They are looking for an Audit trained professional ideally first/second move into industry.

Description

As the Deputy Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day to day accounting and finance responsibilities of the Reporting Team.
  • Providing accurate, compliant, and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to Group.
  • Planning and preparation of information required for the quarterly and annual audits and management of the audit process with the statutory auditors to ensure timely completion.
  • Preparation of high-quality Financial Statements.
  • Planning and preparation of the information required for the annual corporation tax returns for review by the Tax Manager.
  • Ensuring all other relevant Reporting Team tasks are completed in line with the required deadlines
  • Ensuring compliance with Group policies and procedures and contributing to any required developments
  • Assisting senior management and the Group reporting function with ad hoc matters as needed
  • Challenging ways of working, and drive simplification, efficiency, and foster a pioneering mindset
  • Leading, supporting, and developing the accounting staff
  • Working effectively with the wider business to ensure the FA SSC team continues to drive to towards excellence and that the team environment supports the Group's values and is inclusive and dynamic
  • Oversee daily accounting operations.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management.
  • Contribute to the company's financial strategy and decision-making process.
  • Manage internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve financial performance.
  • Mentor and develop finance team members.

Profile

A successful Deputy Finance Manager should have:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Practice trained background with good technical knowledge of IFRS and carrying out statutory audits
  • Ability to lead and mentor a small team of accounting professionals.
  • Proven planning and organisation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with key stakeholders
  • Strong MS excel skills
  • Team mindset
  • Ability to challenge existing ways of working and to develop a pioneering culture
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude to challenges, and highly adaptable
  • Experience of accounting of LLPs, Joint Ventures, and branches - advantageous
