The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an Independent Day School set in 250 acres of stunning Sussex countryside. The school is dedicated to nurturing academic ability, kind character, and a spirit of adventure in children aged 2 to 13 years.

As part of the school's holiday childcare service, we are seeking a Holiday Assistant to support children aged 2 to 7 years during school holiday periods. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will ensure children enjoy a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment while making use of the school's extensive outdoor spaces.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage small groups of children in activities.
  • Assist in setting up and preparing sessions, including setting out toys and collecting materials.
  • Serve snacks and ensure a clean and tidy environment.
  • Help facilitate structured activities, including crafts and outdoor exploration.
  • Maintain a safe, friendly, and caring atmosphere, promoting positive interactions among children.
  • Support the Supervisor in delivering engaging and child-led activities.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children and a caring, enthusiastic approach. A Level 3 qualification in Early Years or a related field is desirable but not essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will also consent to a DBS check and must have your own method of transport due to rural location.

This role could suit someone who has worked as a Nursery Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, or Playworker.
