SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Haywards Heath

Academics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Haywards Heath. This is a fantastic opportunity for a patient and resilient individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.

As an SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide personalised assistance to students, helping them engage with their learning and develop essential life skills. Your role will focus on supporting students' emotional well-being, promoting positive behaviour, and fostering a structured, nurturing learning environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) strategies to support student progress.
  • Help students develop emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social skills.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide effective support.
  • Adapt learning materials to suit individual student needs and abilities.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and positive relationships among students.
