Aspiring Youth Worker

This role is ideal if you have experience in SEN, a psychology, crimimology or sociology degree and, have career aspirations to become a Youth Worker.

We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Youth Workerto supporting children with moderate learning difficulties and, additional mental health needs. This school is based in Haywards Heath for children aged 9-18 and, has speciailised in SEMH to provide exceptional education and support for traumatised children and young people.

You will be helping children who have come from trauma/neglected backgrounds, challenging behaviour, ADHD or Autism and also have developed mental health issues due to their needs and require additional support with improving social, emotional and mental well-being.

Responsibilities of an Aspiring Youth Worker:

  • Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students.
  • Behaviour and pastoral support.
  • Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
  • Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.

  • Proactive approach.
  • Impose patience and, understanding.
  • Have an understanding with challenging behaviour.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • To be able to develop trusting and positive relationships with students.
